Please continue to pray for Sozo Missions as we continue to raise funds to expand and update the Oasis Community Center. We are believing God for the $500,000 that is needed to begin building. We currently have about 50 students who meet at the center on respective club nights and it can get very uncomfortable and cramped inside, making it harder to effectively present the message and conduct our youth clubs. The new expansion will allow us to comfortably fit everyone inside for our Sozo club nights during the week and have more efficient and effective gatherings … there will be more space to have separate areas for our smaller meeting groups and one-on-one mentoring sessions, a larger game/play area, and more space for comfortable seating. Furthermore, the expansion will increase the room inside the facility for the various community meetings and events that are conducted there on a regular basis.

So, as I close, I ask that you please prayerfully consider joining our team with a financial donation towards the expansion of our youth center.

Thank you all for your prayers, support, and service to the Lord for Sozo Missions. You play an essential part in our success and we greatly appreciate everything you all do for us.

Together we can break the cycle of poverty, crime, drugs, and violence and create a culture where our youth can thrive.

Your brother in Christ,

Dwayne Parker “Bishop Freeze”

The Sozo Oasis Expansion

His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'” — Matthew 25:23

I often share this scripture with my own children and the youth I get to disciple at Sozo. Of course, I shorten it up a little and say, “God says if you’re faithful over a few things he will make you ruler over much.” …

For the past seven years we have been blessed to be able to hold our Sozo Kidz and Sozo Teenz youth clubs at the Oasis Center in the heart of the Samoset community. Samoset is a low-income neighborhood in East Bradenton that is surrounded by drugs, crime, and hopelessness. Woodland Community Church owns the Oasis Center and when I approached them seven years ago and asked them if I could use the building to start the Sozo youth group and share Christ with the kids in the community and their families, they immediately said yes. Even though we did not own the building, we respected it and treated it as if it were our very own. Several years later, our ministry has grown tremendously and is still bearing much fruit. We went from having an average of five teens on any given youth night to now sometimes having over 50 teens and children. We also get to help local children and families by providing a food bank, English classes for adults, mentorship, Christmas gifts and holiday dinners for families, sports programs for the youth, music and dance discipleship, one-on-one counseling, work crew job opportunities for the teens, Spring and Summer camps for students, and so much more – glory to God!

Our Sozo Missions team has been faithful over being able to occupy the Oasis Center by staying busy in God‘s business winning souls in the Samoset community. I am so grateful to Woodland Community Church; they have always treated us like family and have blessed us generously. God is so good (all the time), and His promises are true … and with wholehearted gratitude and humility, I am proud to say that Woodland Community Church has decided to gift the Oasis Community Center and the property over to Sozo Missions – Hallelujah!!!! Sozo Missions will now be the legal (and very proud) owners of the Oasis Center! Well, actually, it’s God’s property – we are just stewards of it and we WILL be faithful over it.

“ … if you’re faithful over a few things, God will make you ruler over much.”

I am overjoyed about how great our God is and how he rewards those who diligently seek him and are about his business. We are praying, hoping, and believing that this year in 2021 we will finally be able to break ground on expanding the Oasis Center, which will be renamed the Sozo Oasis Center – glory to God. If the Lord says the same, we will be relocating and building a brand new playground on the property, expanding the day room (Main Gathering Hall) to make it three times the size it is now, and building an all-purpose gathering area with concession stands, showers, and a recreational area – all of which will eventually give us enough room to even have Sunday services for families within our community (Praise the Lord).

Thank you Pastor Tim, Executive Pastor & Missions Lead – Dewayne, and the whole Woodland Community Church family! We love you dearly and appreciate everything you have so lovingly done in Sozo Missions’ behalf. May God continue to bless you and enlarge your territories – in Jesus name, Amen.
